Get Noticed FAST Panel at Affiliate Summit East 09
Welcome back!
How do you get noticed in the affiliate marketing space, quickly? That was the question of the first panel I attended, this afternoon.
A panel of people that were virtually unknown in the affiliate marketing space 2 years ago and now known by most affiliate marketers spoke about how to make that jump and become a recognized player within the affiliate marketing space.
Jen Goode, Stephanie Lichtenstein, Mike Buechele, and TrishaLyn tackled the tough topic of getting noticed by your peers in affiliate marketing without being noticed for the wrong reasons.
Social Media
The panel started off on a topic that strikes a chord with me: Be social! It’s called social media for a reason. You don’t pitch someone on the hard sell the first time you meet someone new, so why are we doing it on social media sites. Be sincere!
Also, remember your audience. Granted in affiliate marketing we know and understand Twitter, but does everyone on your Facebook? Be selective with what you’re putting out there.
Networking
Get out from behind the computer and network, network, network.
Ask questions. Ask about other people’s businesses. People in the affiliate marketing industry are very friendly! Do let yourself be intimidated by anyone, we’re all friendly and we’re all here to help. Take notes and pay attention. Even if you’re not familiar with all the terms, write them down, you can catch up!
In return for all this knowledge you get from others, make sure to share your own expertise with others. You never know who might benefit from your own experience. As a result, you will become known as an expert just from blogging about it, frequently.
Media Outlets
Make sure to explore all the media opportunities available to you — blogs, podcasts, video, articles, interviews, and so on. In addition to this, remember, it’s not just your own properties — you can guest post on other blogs, contribute quality content to forums within your niche, and so on.
Remember to your local groups and networking opportunities, too!
Personal Branding
Be consistent! Keep your picture and/or avatar consistent across all social and site platforms. If you do change it, change it across the board.
Remember, “personal” brand is not for everyone — are you truly selling you? Or, are you representing your company’s brand?
