Expand the Reach of Your Free Landing Page Template
Welcome back!
Yesterday, I spoke about increasing the effectiveness of a free landing page template by adding improvements and depth to the site, itself. Today, let’s talk about expanding the reach of the template without the obvious avenue of PPC campaigns.
With the growth of social networking and cloud computing, you have myriad opportunities to expand the reach of your free landing page template, once you’ve completed development of the page on your side.
Social Networks
With the power and reach of Twitter, you need a new and different Twitter account for each niche in which you operate. I’ve just started an account for my landing page — something I should have done, right away. Now, I’ll have to play catch-up.
I know there’s much controversy about auto-DM’ing and putting Twitter on auto-pilot, but for these types of marketing accounts, I like to automate some things (not DMs!). Mostly, I use TwitterFeed to send updated blog posts as status updates. You can also “push” your Tweets to your Facebook Fan Page for the product, too. Another option might be to sign up for Ping.fm and update several social accounts, at once.
Create a Facebook fan page, YouTube video account, StumbleUpon account, Digg account,…. You get the idea. As you join and most importantly, participate in these networks, you expand the reach of your one product (or group of products) that you’re promoting on your free landing page.
Obviously, participating in all these networks and websites can eat up a lot of time, so after participating in them all for a couple weeks, pick the one or two that generates the most response and focus on those sites. If it’s Facebook, make sure you’re updating your account — updating your status, adding friends/fans, adding comments, and so on.
Video
I noted YouTube as one of the social networks to join, above. YouTube and other video sites, although they include many social network qualities, really stand apart from the other social networks. Video has exploded as a marketing tool for many affiliate marketers and continues to expand the reach of affiliates. Additionally, you can use TubeMogul to upload your videos to a variety of video sites.
This will get your videos on other sites, but you really should focus on YouTube. As the king of video sites, YouTube will generate the most traffic and response for your free landing page. Again, the most important job is to participate! Add videos, favorite videos, add comments to other’s videos, create some video responses, and so on.
Article Marketing
Honestly, I’ve never done any article marketing. I hear many good things about it and have good intentions to try it out. It provides another opportunity to get your name and reputation “out there.”
Oftentimes, the key to a “sale” or lead lies in trustworthiness and authority. Article marketing, done properly, provide you an opportunity to develop both. You also have the opportunity to build in links to your free landing page, a blog, or other articles you’ve written.
I’ve always kind of figured, you’re making blog posts, anyway. So, why not expand them and submit them as articles? Sounds easy, I know — yet, I still haven’t done it. This returns to an earlier point — you must pick one or two or three things that work and focus on them. In order to find out which one works, you must first try them, however. So, I will be trying article marketing and it may become one of my Big 3.
Blogging
Blogging is a super-easy way to expand the reach of a single landing page that produces a lot of return on investment. Again, it’s something you must keep updated and fresh. You can even expand on the blogging platform, too. Set up a self-hosted blog on the same domain as your landing page. Set up another one at Blogger, another one at Wordpress.com, another one at TypePad — you get the idea. You are spreading your message to the various avenues and pathways through which your consumer may find you.
Squidoo
Squidoo provides a unique opportunity to tell the world about your product(s). It’s like a combination of a stand-alone website, a blog, and a social network all wrapped up into one “thing.” I created a quick “lens” (that’s the term that Squidoo uses to describe each of your Squidoo sites) about FRS, the product on my free landing page. It literally took me all of about 3 minutes.
It still needs a lot of work and you have to promote it, just like any other site, but if you put the effort in, you can get a lot out of it. You can add images, text links, video, and many other assorted “widgets” to your “lens” as you continue to build it.
Your “ranking” within a category at Squidoo depends on many factors very similar to standard search engine rankings, but you can also get a better ranking through a ratings system that Squidoo has in place.
These are a few suggestions for expanding the reach of your free landing page template, once you’ve customized it and built it. What other ways can you think of to expand the reach?
