New Business Card

By Tim_Jones On May 27, 2009 Under Featured, Online Business

Welcome back!

A couple weeks ago, I talked about expanding your brand and mentioned unique business cards.  Needing to update mine, anyway, I went ahead and ordered some new business cards.

My New Business Card

Granted, many people probably have a card similar to this one, but it’s unique enough that it catches people off-guard when you hand them out.  I’ve had people actually hand it back to me, thinking it wasn’t my business card, but just a name-tag!  When they realize their error, they are immediately struck by the card’s uniqueness and I guarantee it won’t be shuffled away with the rest of the cards they recieve.

I still want to push the envelope and create much more unique cards, but this is a start.  You’ll also notice that, rather than a physical address, I opted for my Twitter username.  With Twitter addresses almost surpassing email addresses as a primary contact form, I thought it was important to have that information on the card.

You may also consider adding your Facebook profile or fan page to the card, as well.  eBayers could add their store, your MySpace page, your RSS feed address, and so on.  Don’t just think about creating a unique-looking card, think about the uniqueness of the information you’re providing on the card.  Are you maximizing potential contact points and network growth opportunities?

  • A fun card. Very unique. Just wait till you see what I'm bringing to IZEAFest. A very unique card. Now, off to make the card. yep... very... unique... Dang I have to come up with something for the front of the card, the back is the unique part.
  • Can't wait to see it, Drew!
  • So I just scrolled down to the comment form to tell you these are some of my favorite cards (I've only seen 1-2 other people with name business cards), and that Drew from BenSpark has my other favorites, and I saw his comment! I love unique business cards- adding photos, like Drew does, is the ultimate personal touch. Original designs are keepers, too.
  • Thanks for the comment, Dina! Yes, they are keepers -- that's the ultimate goal for me -- I don't want my card to end up somewhere in the stack to be stored away in the trash bin. :)
  • Very interesting card indeed. I just had some new ones made right before Ad:Tech SF, nothing fancy, but it has profiles to almost everywhere you can find me (ie Twitter, FaceBook, My Blog, Skype, etc)
  • I wanted to get more of my profiles on the card, too. That's why I guess I'm going to have to go to a more custom design, eventually.

I think the classic "name, address, phone number" cards for online business people will be going the way of the do-do bird, in favor of cards that allow people to access all your online "locations."
  • Heh, I like it! You're right - maybe not the most unique card out there, but memorable for sure. The benefit of being a rogue affiliate marketer is being able to do fun things like this on your business card. One of my laments to working with a professionally branded company as an affiliate manager is the lack of whimsy in branding with business cards :)
  • One of these days, I'm going to get mine done in in clear plastic, maybe even die cut... Pricey tho... http://clearplasticcards.com/
