How To Get Approved By An Affiliate Network

By Tim_Jones On April 21, 2009 Under Affiliate Marketing, Featured, Online Business

Welcome back!

Recently, I had a comment on my blog that mentioned that the commentator had been unable to get approved as an affiliate for an affiliate network, specifically, Market Leverage.

So, what suggestions do I have for “Edwin?”  A few, actually.

*Disclaimer: I do not work, nor have I ever worked for an affiliate network.  The following suggestions are merely a result of my personal experiences with affiliate networks.

  1. Have Your Own Domain Name: Affiliate network representatives have told me on several occasions, in most cases they will not approve an account application with a Google Blogger domain.  This is not to say you can’t get approved by any affiliate network or that you can’t find some level of success using Google Blogger, but eventually, for professionalism, branding, and business growth, you will need to purchase and create your own site with your own domain name.  This will go a long way towards network approval.
  2. Provide An Actual Physical Address On The Application: No PO Boxes, here.  If you’re leery about providing your home address, spend the money to get a box at the UPS Store (They provide actual physical addresses vs. PO Boxes.  They cost a little more, but it’s worth it.).  Granted, even this may cause some consternation with the affiliate networks (they might check Google Maps to see if this looks like a post office box or business address), but it’s loads better than a PO Box.
  3. Answer The Phone At The Number You Provide On The Application: Don’t give them a random phone number that no one actually answers.  Most networks will call you and will not approve an application unless they speak to a living, breathing human being.
Don’t worry.  These calls are very easy to get through.  They mainly want to check if your breathing and have some idea of how you plan to promote their offers.
  4. Be An Actual Business Entity: Even if you’re just starting out, you need to be some sort of business entity.  Whether you’ve formed a corporation, an LLC, or just a sole proprietor, create a business entity.  This means that you have a separate checking account, business name, and so on.  Even if this is your part-time hobby, you need to treat it like a business or you will have difficulty developing business relationships with affiliate networks.

These are just a few suggestions to help with affiliate network approval.  They may seem simple, but they can go a long way towards getting an account with the network you need for that one particular offer.

What suggestions can you offer for Edwin?

Never heard of Market Leverage, but I did hear about Click Booth. You just have to be serious enough, because an affiliate network is based on the members' dedication and hard work. But I guarantee that you will not meet problems getting accepted if you really want to earn money with the help of an affiliate network.
