Win an iPod Nano or Flip Mino in Market Leverage’s December Promotion

By Tim_Jones On December 1, 2008 Under Affiliate Marketing, Contests, Featured

Welcome to The Real Tim Jones. If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or for more frequent, informal updates, you can follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome to the month of December! Once again, Market Leverage will be promoting their network through contests this month. In December, they make it even easier to win, since all you have to do is write about your secrets to affiliate marketing. No joining Market Leverage through my link (although, I don’t mind if you do), no revenue generation, just write a blog post.

Playing on the theme from Market Leverage’s ads, “The Secret is Out”, you must “Share Your Secret” to making money online. Entries can be text or video. There will be a winner from each blog sponsoring the contest. Each of the individual blog winners will receive: their choice of an HD Flip Mino or an iPod Nano (pre-loaded with some great content), and of course, some Market Leverage goodies!

The top three winners (as selected by their team of hosts/judges) across all hosting blogs will get a Kindle, a $100 ML Rewards card and a $50 iTunes card (for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively)!

The contest will run the entire month of December and winners for all prizes will be announced the week of January 5th.

So, what does this mean for you? This means you need to get working on your post and video submissions to The Real Tim Jones for this contest. Your post/video needs to follow the theme of “The Secret Is Out” and provide your secrets to affiliate marketing (of course, using only Market Leverage as an example network) and submit the posts to me at tim AT therealtimjones DOT com or just add it as a comment, below. Now, I know you’ll probably keep your best secrets close to the vest, but I will be selecting the winner for this blog, so make it good! I will be posting the entries on this blog for comment and review (and additional, free exposure for you).

As I noted, this is a fantastic opportunity to win some cool prizes and get your name out there for free! Additionally, it’s so EASY! How could you possibly not enter this contest? All you have to do to enter is write a post. I expect to see lots of great submissions.

Thanks for hosting the contest, Tim! Good luck to all the participants!!!
  • Hey Tim.

Here's my entry for the contest:
"Promote CPA offers with helpful videos!"

Here's a really easy tactic that anyone can use to drive some great traffic
to virtually any CPA offer from MarketLeverage (and without spending a
    fortune on PPC).

Step 1) Go to EzineArticles, GoArticles or ArticleCity and find a few good articles
that are related to the offer.

Step 2) Read each article and then make a video sharing what you've learned
(do this in your own words, do not just read the article, that's plagiarism).

Step 3) In the video, add a URL to the domain you're using to promote the offer.
You can either buy a new domain for it or just use a subdomain. Just keep it short.

Step 4) Use TubeMogul to upload your video all around the web.

Step 5) Share the video in all your social media accounts (facebook, myspace, etc).

That's it... if you take the time to do it, you'll find that this strategy works really well. :)

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for getting things started, Miguel! Great submission and one I will be attempting, soon!

Here's my tip for ya Tim :)

I hope it's ok to post the tip here since I don't have a blog :(

    --------

I'll base this tip on what affiliate marketing really is about.

There are tons of affiliate marketers starting out each day since there is a whole lot of money out there that could be made. However, the mistake is that a new marketer tends to make tons of mistakes.

Market Leverage is one of those companies that allows new potential marketers to use a great network with a lot of ease. Not all networks would give you great support, but ML really does. This isn't a secret, but it's something that tons of marketers tend to look past. Without a great network, you simply will not make the money you want to make.

  • Thanks for the tip, Mike and yes, you can definitely leave it as a comment.

I agree, Market Leverage is a great network to work with in affiliate
marketing. They are all very accessible, by phone, email, and IM. They
also have a very creative staff that can help new affiliates develop ideas
    for marketing their offers.

I make extra money online by going to garage sales, yard sales and thrift stores picking up things for pennies on the dollar. Then clean them up and put them online on Craigslist or in my local newspaper for 2-3-4 times what I've paid for them. I've made over $10K in the past 4 months more than I ever did working an hourly job and its on my time while having FUN!

It really isn't a secret. I've supported myself for years from my site. Content. Content is king. If you don't have information the public wants and match that to the appropriate affiliate, you're dead in the water. Choose a subject you are passionate about. Consistently update the site with new information. Scour the web for other sites which will accept your link and once a year I use a fabulous site out there to make certain I'm listed in all the search engines and directories. Selfpromotion.com I've used him for years.

I always shop through an affiliate like Fatwallet or Ebates that offers cash back on your purchases through thier merchants. Though the course of the year, the balances add up!
  • Mary Morris
Sell old car parts on Ebay
  • The first thing I ever did to make money online was GPT sites. The pay was horrible, I’d get about a dollar for every 10 minutes spent doing surveys and offers, I started researching for ways to make money online and decided to do affiliate marketing, I first signed up to this really small affiliate marketing site, the pay was good but not that good so I decided to try market leverage, I only spent a very short amount of time with them because school and personal projects got in my way.

I then decided to do freelancing, I had gotten very good at creating and launching websites during my affiliate marketing period so I started posting bids on projects and I now make about 50 bucks per project, these projects usually take about 2 hours to complete so it’s about 25 bucks per hour which is really good, considering my friends make about 8 bucks at Mcdonalds, for now I spend the money in clothes and random stuff that I like but soon I’ll start saving for college, maybe Penn state business school or law school but I also have my sight on Temple.

I don't have an iPod! I would love to have one! Thanks for the opportunity!
  • My secret to making money online is to take it offline. Turn off the laptop and go meet people. Network at conferences, join meet up groups in your area, and shake hands with people. Build relationships with people in your space. Somewhere down the road an opportunity will open and because you put in the effort to make connections, you’ll get the first phone call.

    Secrets of Affiliate marketing

Affiliate programs like MarketLeverage are very easy to sign up to these days, and for some people can be a good way of making money through online publishing. However many of the top schemes are heavily subscribed and it can be difficult making them pay out, which can be very disheartening for beginners. Here is an insight into a few of the little trade secrets to running a successful affiliate scheme, to help you boost your earning potential:

    * Camouflage – try and blend your affiliate links into your website content, to avoid it looking like an obvious marketing ploy. Blatant advertising can annoy some visitors and put them off your website, but if you take care to incorporate links into articles and use cloaking tools to make them look less like advertisements then people will be more likely to click on links and earn you money.

    * Personal recommendations – this is a powerful tool in affiliate marketing, and you should try and word your articles so that they are friendly and conversational, and instead of trying to sell a product or service write as if you are speaking from experience and are recommending the item to others, rather than trying to advertise it for purely commercial reasons. It is important to only support products or services that you are interested or can talk convincingly about. People will pick up quickly if you do not really know what you are talking about or make silly errors, and this will put them off following up any links and could also damage the credibility of your whole website. If you are unsure about any of the products or services advertised by affiliate programs then don’t sign up for them, and find something you feel is more reliable and has something positive to offer your visitors.

    * Niche marketing – affiliate marketing is very popular these days, and top earning programs can be very heavily subscribed with some well established affiliate users pushing out the less experienced ones. Therefore it can be much more profitable to target various niche markets, as this will make it more likely for you to score higher on search engine results and so attract more site traffic, which should hopefully translate to more commissions. Of course niche markets can have a potentially lower client base, so try not to pick any schemes that are advertising products or services that are too obscure or unpopular.

    * Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – SEO is vital for attaining good rankings on search engine results, and as mentioned before good results here can translate into more visitors to your site and potentially better commissions. Take some time to learn more about SEO methods such as the use of keywords. Search engine software checks for keyword relevance when sorting through results, so make sure you have included a good number of important keywords throughout your website content, and also in your titles and meta data tags.

As with any online business the margins in affiliate programs can be pretty tight, and earning potential will be tied to the amount of site traffic you can attract. Therefore it is vital that you make every effort to create an interesting and informative website and market it well, to ensure that you attract more and more new visitors, and also encourage existing members to return.

The best way to make money online is to pay attention to the trends and try to offer the most popular items to your customers first. You can do that on ebay, etsy, your blog, etc. Just don't be afraid to use the newest technology and websites to make your way.

I think the key words here are *pay attention.* Yes, indeed. :-)
